VOSESA

VOSESA is a non-governmental organisation based in Johannesburg, South Africa. It was established in 2003 to address the need for well-researched, up-to-date information on civic service and volunteering in the Southern African (SADC) region. These include Botswana, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Lesotho, Madagascar, Malawi, Mauritius, Mozambique, Namibia, Seychelles, South Africa, Swaziland, Tanzania, Zambia and Zimbabwe.
VOSESA’s activities span the following areas:
- conducting research on civic service and volunteering in SADC countries
- documenting practice, programmes and policies in the field of civic service and volunteering
- using its research to support policy development
- building research capacity in the field of civic service and volunteering.
VOSESA is the lead agency in Africa for the UBUNTU International Youth Voluntary Service Award 2009.
VOSESA publishes VOSESA Focus and other publications on www.vosesa.org.za and Service Enquiry on www.service-enquiry.org.za.
